Oscar begins his 2013 cross-country road trip

Ben Gleib and Angie Greenup kick off the Oscar Roadtrip with Reba McEntire Feb. 4.

Oscar is hitting the road. The golden statuette is hitting towns across America on a cross-country journey from New York to Los Angeles.

The 2013 "Oscar Roadtrip" was launched on "Good Morning America" on Monday with the help of country music star Reba McEntire.

Announced stops include Washington, D.C., Chicago, Dallas and Phoenix. See the full schedule below:
  • 2/4: New York City
  • 2/6: Philadelphia
  • 2/7: Washington, D.C.
  • 2/8: Baltimore
  • 2/11: Chicago
  • 2/13: St. Louis
  • 2/14: Kansas City
  • 2/17: Houston
  • 2/18: Dallas
  • 2/21: Phoenix
  • 2/24: Hollywood – The Oscars

Oscar Roadtrip reporters Ben Gleib (@bengleib) and Angie Greenup (@angiegreenup) will chronicle the 21-day journey. A number of stops will be determined by fans via social media. Fans are asked to follow the journey and interact via Twitter (with the hashtag #OscarRoadTrip) and via a special website.

The road trip is the first of its kind for the Oscars. Similar to the Meet the Oscars exhibitions, fans along the way will get a chance to hold a real Oscar statuette.

The 85th Academy Awards, for outstanding film achievements of 2012, will be presented on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center, and will be televised live on ABC and in more than 225 countries worldwide.
