Oscars 2014: Chris Hemsworth, Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs to announce 86th Academy Awards nominations Jan. 16
The hammer-wielding god, played in the movies by actor Chris Hemsworth, will join Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs (newly elected in August) in announcing the 86th Academy Awards nominations.
Nominations will be unveiled at 8:38 a.m. ET / 5:38 a.m. PT live from the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills, Calif. You can watch the announcement right here on TheGoldKnight.com.
Hemsworth and Isaacs will reveal about 10 of the 24 categories live on air.
Typically, the Academy president is one of the announcers. Last year, Seth MacFarlane and Emma Stone announced the nominations. It was the first time since 1972 that an Oscars host participated in the nominations announcement.
Hemsworth made his feature film debut in 2009’s “Star Trek,” but is known for his title role in the “Thor” franchise, which debuted in 2011. He could also be seen in 2013's “Rush.”
Past announcers include Jennifer Lawrence (84th Academy Awards nominations), Mo'Nique (83rd), Anne Hathaway (82nd), Forest Whitaker (81st) and Kathy Bates (80th).
