In preparation for the 87th Academy Awards next February, the Academy's Board of Governors has updated the campaign rules and regulations for a smoother season.
These rules deal with how companies and individuals may market movies and achievements to Academy members.
Of course, the most significant changes affect the Music category.
"Music Branch members may not contact other Music Branch members to promote the nomination of their own song in any way, including via mail, email, telephone or social media," the rules stipulate. "Additionally, Music Branch members may not attend any special live performances of eligible songs unless attached to a screening."
Complete award campaign regulations can be found the Academy's website.
The 87th Academy Awards, for outstanding film achievements of 2014, will be presented on Sunday, Feb. 22, 2015, at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center, and will be televised live on ABC and in more than 225 countries worldwide.
