Throwback Thursday: Meeting up with bleacher fans five year later.

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. – It was the 83rd Academy Awards and my first covering the Red Carpet for TheGoldKnight.com and Toledo Free Press.
It was a whirlwind. I arrived in Los Angeles on Friday and left on Monday. I covered Academy symposiums and Red Carpet preparations.
But it was the Red Carpet experience on Oscar Sunday that left an indelible mark on my heart.
The rush of covering the famous stretch of carpet cannot be put into words. With "Oscar Setup" credentials, I had until 11 a.m. PT to get all of the footage and photos I could before the credentials expired.
My favorite part of the day was meeting those dedicated bleacher fans.
Here's are those interviews from Feb. 27, 2011:
That day, I interviewed Francine and Elmer Armstrong (St. Louis), Courtney Cornelli (St. Louis) and Tina Hernandez (Huntington Beach).
Each Oscar Sunday, I have caught up with Armstrong and his friends on the Red Carpet, while they sit in the bleachers, ready for the stars to arrive.
Today, I ran into them on the second floor at Hollywood & Highland Center, an outdoor shopping mall which holds Oscar's Dolby Theatre. (See photo below.)

|I also saw Hernandez today.|
She was as fun as ever.
I haven't seen Cornelli since that day in 2011.
We are all dedicated fans, bringing our own unique spin to Oscar Week.
This year, Armstrong and his bleacher family will not be on the Red Carpet. The Academy decided to no longer grandfather them in. (UPDATE: Read more in the Orange County Register here.)
It may be a different year for all of us. Nonetheless, we are all here basking in the warm Californian sun and taking in the bombastic Oscars atmosphere, whether it be from the Red Carpet or a few blocks aways.
Happy Throwback Thursday.
