The big story of the year is "Hamilton."
The popular megabit musical about America's Founding Father Alexander Hamilton by Lin-Manuel Miranda set a Tony record with 16 nominations — Best Musical, Best Score, Best Book and Best Direction. Seven cast members also received nominations.
The other show with double-digit nominations is “Shuffle Along, Or the Making of the Musical Sensation of 1921 and All That Followed.”
Tune in to the Tony Awards on Sunday, June 12, 2016, at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
Set to host is James Corden, Tony Award winner and host of CBS's "The Late Late Show." The first-time host won a Tony Award in 2012 for Leading Actor in a Play for his performance in "One Man, Two Guvnors."
One big change from last year is the location of the ceremony.
Broadway's big night will move from New York City's Radio City Music Hall to the smaller Beacon Theatre on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, where the show was broadcast in 2011 and 2012.
This year's move was thanks to an already booked Radio City for a retooled Rockettes show produced by Harvey Weinstein, “Rockettes New York Spectacular.”
While the Beacon Theatre seats about half as many people as Radio City (2,800 to 6,000), the stage at the Beacon should make performances look cozier since it more closely matches the size of most Broadway theaters.
We'll find out how everything looks and who wins June 12.
