And Monday, with 146 days until Oscar Sunday, the Academy has chosen its host for the 85th Academy Awards: Seth MacFarlane.
This will be the first Oscars appearance for MacFarlane, the creative force behind “Family Guy” and this summer’s comedy hit “Ted,” Telecast producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron announced Oct. 1.
“It’s truly an overwhelming privilege to be asked to host the Oscars,” MacFarlane said in a statement. “My thoughts upon hearing the news were, one, I will do my utmost to live up to the high standards set forth by my predecessors; and two, I hope they don’t find out I hosted the Charlie Sheen Roast.”
In September he hosted the season premiere of “Saturday Night Live.” Watch that episode below:
MacFarlane has earned 13 Emmy nominations and won two for his work on “Family Guy.”
The Oscars are Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, on ABC.
