The 65th Primetime Emmy Awards are airing live coast-to-coast on CBS at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT from the NOKIA Theatre L.A. LIVE. Neil Patrick Harris is hosting, as well as producing. Ken Ehrlich is the executive producer.
The 65th Primetime Emmy Awards were aired live coast-to-coast on CBS from the NOKIA Theatre L.A. LIVE. Neil Patrick Harris hosted, as well as produced. Ken Ehrlich was the executive producer.
The four-time Emmy Award-winning Harris opened the ceremony with a big Oscars-style montage, where characters in TV sets talked to him and gave him advice.
The big winners of the night were "Breaking Bad" and "Modern Family," which won awards for Outstanding Drama and Comedy Series, respectively.
The HBO movie "Behind the Candelabra" won 11 of the 15 Emmys for which it was nominated. Elton John tributed Liberace during the ceremony.
As a network, HBO came into the ceremony with 20 wins, a total of 108 nominations and it led the networks with 27 overall wins. CBS had 16 wins and NBC came in third with 11.
By program, "Behind the Candelabra" won 11 Primetime Emmys. "Boardwalk Empire" was second with five awards. The 66th Annual Tony Awards and "Saturday Night Live" won four.
Winners in more than 70 categories were announced on Sept. 15, including Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn for "Project Runway" as best reality show hosts. Awards in 26 categories were announced during the Sept. 22 telecast. Outstanding Choreography was be presented for the first time during the big show.
Throughout the night, special memorials saluted TV icons James Gandolfini, Gary David Goldberg, Cory Monteith, Jean Stapleton and Jonathan Winters.
